Sultan Al Qasimi visits Arcadian Library in London

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited the Arcadian Library in the Carlton House Palace, which was founded by King George the Ist in the British Capital London.

His Highness was received by Dr. Jimmy Antakiah , Chairman of Arcadian Libraries Group. During the meeting, between His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Dr. Jimmy, they exchange views on common interest, they also reviewed a manuscripts, books, and the efforts  to maintain the manuscripts and books, and to provide them to the students, researchers and scholars. 

Dr Jimmy reviewed, in front of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, a number of the most prominent, important and rarest books, manuscripts, maps acquired by the library, which dated back to the period between the 8th and 19th  century, they were more than 7,000 manuscripts and books.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the book of medicines which is in Arabic language,its dated back to the year 1130 , and  its  considered the only book of its kind in the world .

His Highness also briefed on many books like ,the book of  the "Western appreciation of Arab and Islamic civilization", the British trade in Oman, Bahrain and the Arab ports in the Gulf in 1904, the Sheikhs Coast and their agreements with the British in 1907, the book of  Sadler, which collects secret reports recorded in the year 1800, the  book in description of Egypt and a book of modern India.

Among the manuscripts presented in front of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, a number of documents about the Gulf, in addition to the approximately 95 letter from the Venetian traders to   the Arab region.

During the visit, Dr. Jimmy also reviewed with the Ruler of Sharjah, a map of Cairo City ,its  back to the year 1530. 

At the end of the visit, Dr. Jimmy presents a collection of souvenirs to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.
