His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah stressed that the Sharjah Consultative Council is fully responsible and liable for the laws governing the society in the Emirate of Sharjah, correcting, adding and deleting them; it is responsible for any decisions issued by the Sharjah Executive Council or municipalities regarding fees on services, which all should be passed through the SCC.
His Highness’ words came during an intervention via the Direct Line Programme broadcast live on Sharjah Radio, adding that the cancellation and imposition of fees is vested with the SCC, and these fees affect the community, and since the SCC is responsible for the community, it is there to serve the community through its powers.
His Highness explained: "In the laws in force here, there are certain aspects of the legislation that may be unclear for the member and may contradict the federal legislation or the norms where it may be interpreted otherwise; in such a case we correct it."
The Ruler of Sharjah continued: "We know well the needs of society, the first being that the citizen is safe in his home and in his search for a job, and the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah has detailed me about all their needs."
The Ruler of Sharjah said that the government annually provides approximately 700 houses in grants and about 300 houses on housing loans.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has recommended that the citizens should be aware of the fact that education is the means to advance in their jobs; whoever receives a diploma, we promote him or her immediately, as do those who obtain master and doctoral degrees. “For those who learn Arabic, they also have priority,” His Highness concluded.
