His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, continues in embodying the journey of historical writing of the world manuscripts through verifying and translating them into Arabic, along with English and the original language of manuscript. This will result in enriching the cognitive importance of reading history and re-discovering the extended configuration of communities from various cultures, especially the UAE and its neighbors in the geographical, social, cultural, philosophical and intellectual dimension. All these are considered as developmental paradigms that enrich the human continues seek of identity, existence and the dimensions of the civilizational formation of nations.
The latest achievement of His Highness is presenting the book "A Momentous Journey- Full manuscript of book of Duarte Barbosa 1565 AD" dating back to the 16th century and that have been lost for 100 years. He made this book available to the reader and the Arab researcher, as he provided this book within "Al-Qasimi publications" in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. This achievement reflects depth and research focus in the most important Western sources that document important aspects from the history of the region. This achievement is based on close scientific cooperation between sciences and arts; Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies in Sharjah and Faculty of History and Geography, Academy of Sciences, Lisbon, Portugal.
Reading and continuous research are considered as the core of methodical thinking based on qualitative documentary indications. Reviewing the Portuguese manuscripts through the book "A Momentous Journey- Full manuscript of book of Duarte Barbosa 1565 AD" provide several visions, directing the reader to conclude the paths of people and aspect of transformation in their communities. António Dias Farinha, Dean of Faculty of History and Geography, Academy of Sciences in Lisbon, states in the introduction of the book that" This edition is very important for the History of the Arabian Gulf and its peoples and wealth. This edition was written at the beginning of the modern era, i.e., fifteen years after the journey of Vasco da Gama from Lisbon to Calicut in India, leading to discover new worlds".
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi explained that there are main reasons for publishing and printing the manuscript by "Francisco Mendo Trigoso" for the first time in 1813 AD, one of them is that the manuscript is not a biography but it is contemporary notes.
The author/writer of the manuscript "Duarte Barbosa" describes Hormuz city saying "The Muslims in Hormuz are well dressed, as they wear beautiful long white cotton shirts and long pants. Also, they wear silk and stripped light clothes. They wear belts with daggers decorated with silver and gold, according to their social standard/ level".
He also described the state of "Gujarat" in India saying "The Banyans have long hairs like women, as they tie their hair up and put it inside turban. They put flowers on their hair and use sandalwood smoke with Saffron and others as a perfume".
"I condemn"
The book "I condemn" is one of the recent releases of "Al-Qasimi publications". His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi obtains Spanish documents dating back to the period between 1530 and 1610, which have been translated into Arabic. He described this period as being the tragedy time suffered by Muslims in Andalusia. He chose 10 documents that condemn some classes of Spanish people during this period, according to the field of each class. The convicted class may be a king, judge, or a group of people. He explained the facts and reasons leading to such conviction in accordance with the supporting documents (A copy of document is attached). One of the ten facts is the fourth conviction represented in (Making the children of Moriscos who rebelled; ten and a half year-old boys and nine and a half year-old girls, as slaves for those who arrest them. As for the young children, they are kept with some people who raise and educate them the Christian religion).
"Tale of A City"
In continuation of biography books, the second part of the book "Tale of A City" written by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi was one the recent releases in "Al-Qasimi publications", as it presents documenting theses such as talk about "Smallpox in Sharjah", which spread in December 1935 in all areas between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.
In the field of Poetry, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi wrote a book under the rubric "Wise Poems on Distress and Determination from the poetry of Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi".
This book contains 8 poems which describe the conditions of a period of the reign of Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi, from the year 1883 to 1914. His Highness also wrote the book "Poetry debates between Sheikh Sultan Bin Saqr Al Qasimi and his friend, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul-Aziz Al Siddiqui", which is one of the recent publications of His highness. It is said that the section "Al-Qasimi publications" in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair contains about 45 books in Arabic.
