Poetry Houses

A number of critics expected that the poetry will be ended by the end of the twentieth century, but this prophecy failed. Firstly, due to the fact that the Arab man has a natural instinct for poetry, due to his romantic nature. Poetry is language and approach of Arabs, then the Arabs cannot leave their home or shelter. Poetry is considered as an umbrella of Arabs.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah recommended that the Department of Culture and Information, Government of Sharjah establish poetry Houses in each Arab country. Consequently, after a short time his highness established six (6) poetry houses which assumed the responsibility to be a destination for poetry in these countries in order to organize poetry gatherings and discover youth poetry talents. In addition, it should be a platform for poets from several generations and should include preparation of training courses how to practice, writing and recite poetry. His highness dream is establishing 1000 poetry houses; his highness can assume the expenses of these houses.

In consideration of the above, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi set a ward for poetic creativity granted each year to two poets. This year, it was granted deservedly to Emirati poet/ Ibrahim Mohammed Ibrahim and Muhy Al Din Al Fateh from Sudan.

Short while ago, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi surprised the whole that he had established an Arab Academy of Sharjah. Whereas, observer saw that his highness always be in the lead to face the crumbly of one of literary genres, as his highness does with theater, poetry, heritage and monuments. Indeed, his highness succeeded not at the local level only, but also at the Arab world as whole.
