50 muslins, which are very fine cotton cloths, worth a lot of money to them and are highly valued for headresses and shirts. There is also a lot of copper, quicksilver, vermillion, and rosewater, brocades, taffetas and common camlets are also brought from Aden to Hormuz. From Sheik Ismael’s lands, are also brought here large quantities of silk, very fine musk, and rhubarb. From Babylon, Bahrein and Julfar, a lot of seed-pearls and large pearls are traded here. From Arabia, a large number of horses are brought, which are taken to India. Here they take a thousand or sometimes two thousand horses in a year. Each horse in India (whether good or bad) is worth some three or four hundred ducats according to demand. The ships carrying theses horses take also a lot of dates; raisins; salt; sulphur and large seed-pearls, which are very popular among the Moors of Vijayanagara. The Moors of Hormuz are very well dressed with fine, long, very white cotton shirts, below which they wear cotton long-johns. They also wear many fine silk clothes, other loongees and scarlets, girded, with excellent sheaths on their belts in which they carry their daggers. These are finely adorned with silver or gold, according to the status of the bearer. They also carry large round bucklers, emblazoned with the finest silk. and their Turkish bows tainted in fine colours, with silk strings, which fire accross a great distance. The bows are made of varnished wood and buffallo horn and people are excellent arches. Their arrows are very well made. Others carry small axes and different types of iron maces. All with beautiful damascene workmanship. They are very rich; distinguished, and courteous men. They treat themselves well as for clothes and food. They eat highly condimented food and plenty of everything. Such as: meats, wheat bread, excellent rice and many conserves, and green fruits, apples, pomegranates, peaches, many apricots, figs, almonds, grapes, mellons, and horse-radishes and many salads, and all the other things found in Spain.
