82 Cintacora Leaving this city and heading along the coast towards Malabar, one comes to a river called the Ligua, which is the boundary between the Kingdom of Deccan and that of Vijayanagara, and at the mouth of this river and on the top of a hillock stands a fortress known as Chitakul, which the Sabayo keeps to defend his land, and where there are always many foot soldiers and cavalrymen. And here on the north bank is where the Kingdom of Deccan ends, stretching along the coast as far as Chaul, which is some ninety leagues along the coast from this fortress. The Kingdom of Vijayanagara in the province of Tulunadu Leaving Chitakul, the land on the far side is already that of the great kingdom of Vijayanagara, which is so vast that it has five very large provinces, each with its own language. The first of them runs along the coast as far as Malabar and is called Tulunadu. Another one in the interior is called Danseão Rayem, another which borders the kingdom of Vijayanagara itself is called Telingana, and the city of Vijayanagara which they call Tanarim, and the Kingdom of Coromandel, where they speak Tamil. This is a very large and wealthy kingdom, with plentiful provisions and land where many animals are raised and large towns; villages and cities. In this province of Tulunada, there are some rivers and harbours with busy shipping, where they deal in many goods, which I shall start to describe hereunder.
