Al-Ḥīra Assembly

99 A leader supreme, in thee, our path we find. The people follow, in thy wisdom’s light, In obedience, they seek thy sight so right. We remain, in thy reign, subjects leal and true, As long as breath in thee doth continue. But after thou depart from mortal scene, What fate awaits us, in a world so keen? Shall we then, like shadows, simply fade, When thou art gone, in death’s embrace laid? Without thy guidance, we’re but lost, forlorn, For in thy life, our very existence is born. Notable 1: “Al-Nābighah sent me a poem too. He begins it with these lines.” He recites: Informed I stand, Abu Qaboos hath aimed his threat, And in a lion’s roar, no soul finds safety or comfort yet.
