85 When Feroz Shah died in February 1609, there was no one in Hormuz fit to rule the island. Therefore, wazir Rais Sharafuddin, sent a message to Prince Muhammad Shah son of Ferug Shah informing him of the death of his brother. At the time, Muhammad Shah was living with his uncle, Rais Badruddin, in Shemel, capital of Magestan. Muhammad Shah was asked to come to Hormuz to take over the vacant throne. In anticipation of Prince Muhammad Shah’s arrival from Magestan, Rais Sharafuddin moved his two grandchildren from the palace to his house, where his two spinster daughters lived. Feroz Shah had left two sons: Prince Ferug Shah and Prince Salgor Shah. Their mother was Rais Sharafuddin’s daughter, but she died a year before her husband.
