They worked a sad damage to the wall and a large portion was already riddled yet without any avail to them since the wall was of plaster of Paris which is the right material for these walls, for strength, but by what is now seen, it appears that even stronger are the basiliscs, though undoubtedly had the lower battery continued longer what they poured on us, the wall must have altogether given way.
