_ 101 _ I do not recount to Your Worship the great troubles I went through during all this time in defending the fortress as I did, and in defending over forty sails as were here at this port, along with the rowing vessels which lay here of His Highness; all this I hope in our Lord, and I leave its narrative untold to Your Worship in the Strait we are in, hoping that Your Worship will come on here with all the strength of India to scatter these enemies, and take Baçora; and whereas on this affair I have already written extensively to Your worship I do not do so here. The Turks in truth took Mascate, as I had written to Your Worship it was said they had, for we never could learn the truth of this until when they wanted to go away, for then they sent us word one night by a bomabadier, a Portuguese, whom they had taken in Mascate, and the affair came about in this manner.
