_ 170 _ confessions and other pious works, greater progress has been made in the souls of those who strayed so far from the bosom of the Catholic Church, than had ever been seen in these parts. Brother Andre Fernandes, who is going there by order of Father Superior Francisco, will give a fuller account of this. Without being expected(A), Father Francisco arrived from Japan, where God has accomplished a great deal through him. He brought several people from that same land with him to send them on to Portugal and to Your Reverence, for them to receive instruction so as to make their lands bear fruit(B). He left two men of great spirit here with us but because the air here in Goa is poor and the land very hot, one of them, a very good Christian, died on us. The other is going to the Kingdom(C).
