Afonso de Lancaster, the ambassador in Rome, Lisbon, dated September 1553, informing him that after the occupation of Basra and the Gulf, support from him (the King) would be out of reach, and would require a year to reach the Gulf, and he mentioned another reason, which was the weakness of the capabilities:(20) Comendador-môr I the King send you greetings.
