_ 229 _ In the same year (1553) The letter received by the Turks from the Pasha of Basra, regarding the actions of Piri Reis in Muscat and Ormuz, was mentioned:(24) How the Turk received a letter from the Pasha of Basra, about what Piri Reis had done in Muscat and Ormuz; how he sent Barbarossa to bring back fifteen galleys for him to the port of [Mocha]; how Piri Reis arrived in the court and the Turk gave orders to have him beheaded; how D. Diogo de Noronha came across Barbarossa; and the important battle that the galleys had with the galleon of Gonçalo Pereira Marramaque. When Piri Reis arrived in Basra, the Pasha immediately informed the Grand Turk by overland mail of what he had done in Muscat and Ormuz and how he had left with (24) Document no. and reference.
