The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman

That is where I stayed when I was here and from experience, I could see that it was very much in His Highness interests to lodge the factor there. These houses on the north side confront the gateway that leads to the customs house, with houses that now belong to Guiomar da Costa, who was the master’s wife, adjoining to the south. The beach is to the east and to the west they face the courtyard of the customs house. These were bought from Tristão de Orta for eight hundred and fifty xerafins. The whole of this, or the greater part of it, was packed with houses – namely – those of the King of Ormuz, which were right next to the fortress.
