_ 359 _ welcomed it as it was well put to use, since it resulted in profit and service to God. As a novelty and for the edification of the people of that land, Father Antonio d' Eredea, very few days after my arrival in Ormuz, made me interpreter of some of the talks which he gave to more than two thousand Moors, which we did at the pillory and in the bazaar of the city.(A) It was so successful that a few days later Father Antonio d' Eredea saw the fruit which God Our Lord produced through such a poor medium as myself. Three wives of the King of Ormuz, all Moors and one of them by whom he had a daughter, left his house in secret, climbing from the windows with ropes to become Christian after hearing the words of God, and came to hear me where I was speaking. I shall not write of the fervour and rejoicing which took place when these women became Christians, since the Padre will speak of this at greater length.(B) He will also tell you of the problems we had with the King of Ormuz regarding these women and how the matter came to the point at which they wanted to return to the King without becoming Christians, but Our Lord, as the (A) See description according to Correa II, up to p. 439.
