_ 429 _ In the same year (1560) Lorenzo Perez de Tavora, the Ambassador in Rome, sent a letter to D. Sebastiao, Rome, on the 13th of October 1560, stating that Ba Yazid wanted to communicate with the Portuguese:(48) Sir, After the other letters had been sealed, I remembered that I had failed to inform you in then that I have heard through the ambassador of the Duke of Florence that an envoy is here who says that he is from Bayezid, the son of the Turk who is with the Sophy, and he let it be understood that he is going to the King of Spain on behalf of the said Bayezid.
