_ 431 _ In the same year (1560) Lorenzo Perez de Tavora, the Ambassador in Rome, sent a letter to D. Sebastiao, Rome, on the 30th of November 1560, stating that the spices were making their way to Aden and to Suez, and from Basra to Baghdad and Aleppo:(49) My Lord, On 30th October last I received two letters from Matias Bicudo,of 22nd July and 10th August, from Cairo. In the first he 1ndicates indifference about the fleet in Suez, and in the second new preparations for more galleys and the selection of a captain for them. For Your Highness's greater understanding of all that is occurring, I am sending you with these despatches Bicudo's actual letters.
