The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman

_ 67 _ de Moura, my Lord the King’s Factor in Ormuz, and those who serve in this post in future, that you will pay Reis Nur al-Din, Guazil of the Kingdom of Ormuz the stipend which is due to him at the end of each quarter year. In accordance with the copy of this document and its authentications, and the note entered in the book which as is customary, his stipend is confirmed. I command the accountants to enter what you pay him in your account. This has been put into effect. Lopo Dias wrote this in Goa on 19th March 1552. Simão Fernandes caused it to be written. D Afonso. As Reis Nur al-Din has requested me to grant confirmation of the said writ, and having given the matter due consideration, I resolve this, and it pleases me to confirm it to him, as by this instrument I do. It is to be executed and adhered to in the manner therein contained and declared although it has not been issued through the Chancellery, notwithstanding the ordinance to the contrary. Baltasar Riberio wrote this in Lisbon on 12th February 1571.
