_ 409 _ In the same year (1567) The opinion of Philip II about the visions of Emperor Maximillian, regarding opening an Embassy in Persia, rapprochement with the Turks and what was appropriate for a royal marriage, Madrid, came in 1567:(25) What the Emperor writes about the Embassy to Persia. In view of the great necessity to which all his states have been brought through the continual wars against the Turk, and how little help can be had, and that with difficulty, from the Empire; and that assistance from other Christian princes and powers is doubtful, bearing this in mind, and many other considerations of no less importance, he [the Emperor] judges that the war cannot be continued or sustained with appropriate strength and fitting credit against so strong an enemy.
