C. 46 Item: The interpreter of the King of Ormuz receives a salary of nine leques per year from the customs house revenues, which will be paid quarterly, which are worth one hundred and twenty-five thousand five hundred and ninety reis, and his receipt will be obtained. C. 47 Item: There will be only one Portuguese clerk in the customs house, appointed by my Lord the King, and the others who were there will not continue to serve. He will have a salary of six leques per year, which are worth eighty-three thousand seven hundred and twenty-two reis. Item: From the first of January 1543, when the said customs house came into the possession of our Lord the King, until the end of that year, it brought in one hundred and eight thousand nine hundred and thirty xerafins eight çadis,..
