When such a need arises you will inform the Viceroy of India, giving the reasons there are for this so that he may discuss it with qualified persons and provide for it in whatever way is in the best interests of the King and the good of the people. The person who accepts and serves in such an office will be imprisoned and will pay a fine of fifty cruzados for the hospital, and be exiled for three years to wherever I think fit. Item: A person serving in the post of sea commander of the coast of Ormuz, when one is necessary, will have no salary for the post other than that he receives from the ship in which he sails.
