_ 493 _ In the same year (1569) An official order was issued by the Viceroy Luis de Ataide, regarding horses coming from Ormuz, Goa, on the 29th of October 1569:(39) I, Viceroy of India, etc. , make known to you, Gonçalo Pires de Arvelhos, Chief Treasury Officer of my Lord the King in the fortress of Ormuz, and those who hold that office henceforth, and the factor and officials of the factory, that in the receipts of the officials of the said Lord there have always been doubts concerning the number of horses which go from that fortress to the fortresses of India. These doubts cannot be resolved unless sureties are received from that fortress every year given by the nacadás [captains] of the ships to that they will make statements of how they disembarked the said horses in (39) Document no. and reference.
