The amount stated is to be paid to the chancelleries, for the offices and appointments mentioned in these regulations. Those appointed to them will hold them for the ordained period of three years, but, if they are appointed for a longer period than that defined in the regulations, they are to pay for this a fee and charge for the extra time for which they are appointed, but not in excess of double what is hereby levied. For a patent or decree issued by me to a person to whom I have granted a captaincy, office or other appointments, even if that person does not go to India within the period ordained, it is still my wish that the award thus conceded to him is to have effect, be enacted and adhered to. He will pay in my chancellery double dues on such a charter, decree or rider twice what was paid for it when the original award was made to him so that because of the supplement he will pay for the second award twice what he paid or was to pay for the first one. pp. 196-202 Copy of a decree issued by King D Sebastião to Ferragut Shah, King of Ormuz, of which the letter makes mention.
