The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman

_ 116 _ with my seal attached. This is issued by my Chancellery in the city of Évora, 13 March in the year of Our Lord Jesus 1545. This does not apply to houses which are given for accommodation, which I hereby declare shall be paid for in accordance with the said instructions relating to accommodation by the accommodation officer. If they have not been given by the accommodation officer, the proportion agreed with the accommodation office is to be paid as set forth above by who has agreed to do so. Such houses customarily go to the accommodation office over the signature of the scrivener of the writ which applies. It is Your Highness’s wish and command that neither your Captains, factors and officials in the fortress of Ormuz nor other persons of whatever rank or condition are not to take their houses nor cause them to be taken from the King of Ormuz nor from his servants against their will, and that all the Portuguese who come to live in the said city and Kingdom in rented houses shall pay in full to their owners the rents which they have agreed with them and pay it to them at the times agreed between them. Registered in Chancellery [...] [...], 20 March 1545. Péro Gomes .
