The son of the Sophy sent him without any letters, but with a present and certain signs that he had been sent by him, with great demonstration of his conversion, saying he wanted to join with the Roman Church because of revelations which he had had. When it was discovered that he was on the King’s side and had succeeded well in the kingdom of Portugal, he was told to go in the naus which went last year to visit the King and congratulate him, while dealing with matters of importance against the Turks. But as he arrived late and found letters from the King [of Portugal] which the count brought for the Sophy, he wanted to take the letters with the purpose of returning and sailing in the naus with the reply from the Sophy. Up to now he has not arrived. 14.
