From Lisbon Reis Delamishe embarked for India, where he was to serve under the Viceroy. Before completing the journey, however, he passed away, exchanging the slight hopes of this life on which he was embarked, for the sure prize of the other in which he so easily reached port. He left his whole estate which was large, on the advice of Matias de Albuquerque, to Him whom he obeyed in everything. It was thus possible for him to become Lord of that house where he had been educated, and which so greatly needed the assistance in order to attain the perfection we see today. A sumptuous chapel was built, and a choir formed for daily mass, and here the memory of the good fortune of this young man lasts forever. Here also the heroic deeds of that grand old man, Afonso de Albuquerque, are commemorated. He it was who first went to that country. His valiant nephew Matias de Albuquerque is also commemorated there by whose favours and diligence this happy outcome was achieved.
