_ 589 _ In the same year (1592) A royal letter was issued concerning Mr. Balthasar Vaz Pimente, Lisbon, on the 24th of March 1592, granting him the position of commander of the Muscat Fort:(87) Summary Letter from the King in which having regard to the services of Baltasar Vaz Pimenta, knight and gentleman of his household, who has served thirty-six years in the fleets and frontier fortresses of India, being several times captain of vessels, he grants him the office of captain of the fortress of Muscat for a term of three years, when it is vacated by those appointed before 4 March of the present year of 1592 in which this favour is granted.
