(page no. 507) Document No. (77) A report was issued by the governor, Manuel de Sousa Coutinho to the King, Goa, on the 21st of December 1589, regarding the assumption of power in Muscat. (page no. 513) Document No. (78) A decree was issued, granting Paolo Borgues for the reasons mentioned in the highest position of commercial agent, mayor and supervisor of works in Ormuz for a period of three years, when it becomes vacant from its occupants before the 24th of November of the last year, and in return he will receive a pension of one hundred thousand "reals" per year, regarding the Arabic language and the necessity of learning it, Lisbon, on the 27th of January 1590.
