This Province is actually divided into two parts,(B) Ultra Ganges beyond the Ganges and Citra Ganges on this side of the Ganges, because the part which is on this side of the Ganges contains all the houses and residences which we have between Daman and São Tomé. This is the part which we usually call India, although in fact India extends only from Cape Comorin to the city of Diu,(C) but now, as I have said, we call all that part which is on this side of the Ganges ‘India’. (A) Ormuz, in Latin Armuzia, is in southern Persia at the stated degree. (B) This is the ancient division of ‘India’. (C) Diu, is an island in Cambay (Gujarat).
