_ 147 _ Finally Gordun Shah through the intercession of Sheikh Doniar and the others who had been bribed, obtained the island, Sheikh Doniar asked that for the part he had played in the affair he wanted nothing more but that after Gordun Shah had settled in a city in Gerum, he should swear to pay a fee for the upkeep of a house of prayer he was building in honour of the Prophet Mohammed. As he had expected the Sheikh to have asked this favour, Gordun Shah had already planned to do this. He thus signed a document with great solemnity. To this day, the kings who succeed Gordun Shah still pay a fee for the upkeep of this mosque which this Mullah had built in a district called Hongez of Sheikh Donior near the city of Lara, which is forty leagues from Ormuz. As soon as Gordun Shah got possession of this island, as he had intended, in a short while he ordered the building of rowing vessels and set up a garrison there. He forced all the ships that sailed near its waters to pay him a fee. Because of this, a war was started between Gordun Shah and Malik Qais. It lasted many years and ended by destroying the island of Qais itself where Malik lived.
