Because Malik Qais paid a certain tribute to the Kind of Persia, the king came to his defence, sending an army to Moghistan to fight Gordun Shah. Gordun Shah, however, did not wait to be attacked by so mighty a prince. He left with all his family and possessions for the island of Gerum, leaving his city of Ormuz empty of all inhabitants. In its memory he founded another city of the the same name in Gerum. It is this one that now belongs to the kingdom of Portugal, Gordun Shah then made an agreement with the King of Persia to pay him a certain sum each year and to send an ambassador every five year to pay him homage as his vassal. Through this agreement Gordun Shah became a peaceful monarch, not only of Moghistan but also the territory he had conquered from Malik Qais. From then on he made himself master of all the shipping that entered and left the Straits of Persia and he reigned in this new dominions for thirty years.
