The other vessels were small ships which sailed in the Straits and there were others like small men of war which were called terradas. These used to bring all the necessary from the mainland to the city. There were about eight vessels in the dockyard being built. Chapter: III How Afonso d’ Albuquerque arrived at the city of Ormuz and the battle which took place with the naos in the part. When Afonso de Albuquerque arrived at the port of the city of Ormuz at the end of September he ended it with all the naos flying their flags and standards. In order to show on this first visit that he was used to more popular cities and greater numbers of ships and that he was unimpressed by those in the port, he anchored between the five most powerful naos, amongst which was that of the King of Cambay. It was called “Meri”. He came so close to it that their respective buoys became tangled.
