From here Afonso de Albuquerque went to a town belonging to the King of Ormuz called khor Fakan, which was protected by low walls on which bombards were mounted. It was a well laid-out town, with good buildings of whitewashed stone, and houses with upper storeys and flat rooves. Although there was Captain of the King of Ormuz as governor who was strong and well-practiced in the art of war, the residents of the town were very frightened, and when they saw our ships ancho they at once began to flee that very night, taking all their provisions and furniture which were there. When Afonso de Albuquerque discovered this he went on shore in the morning and ordered his nephew, Antonio de Noronha, to go in to the interior with 100 soldiers. He went almost a league without finding any resistance beyond that of a few horsemen who face him but who then fled away so that he could not reach them. An all was quiet and our men were tried they returned to the town with 22 men and women whom they had captured.
