_ 487 _ text of this letter to the Archbishop confirms that the information on the conquest of Ormuz available in Lisbon on the date it was written was restricted to what had been revealed by the Moors. Afonso de Albuquerque waited until the end of the peace negotiations with the King of Ormuz and the beginning of the construction of the fortress before he wrote to the Viceroy to give him an account of the events of which he had been the protagonist. As messenger he used the services of a Moor, the captain of a carrack belonging to the King of Honawar, according to Bras de Albuquerque(A), which the Viceroy identifies as belonging to Timoja, the powerful captain who was a kinsman of the King of Honowar(B). This letter is known from the contemporary Italian translation and must have been written at the end of October or beginning of November of 1507(C). Albuquerque's letter reached the Viceroy after Tristão da Cunha had sailed, and he was awaiting Job Queimado, whose ship followed those of Tristão da Cunha a week later. city of Évora on the same date, and to other towns and bodies.
