_ 113 _ captured one Arab ship, which was on its way from the Maldive islands to the Strait. Its captain was a Turk who surrendered to Jorge da Silveira and Nuno Vaz de Castelo Branco, who was in charge of all captured booty, without a fight. Among those captured there was an Arab merchant who was later sent to the King of Portugal by the commander-in-chief, so that he could tell him about Cairo, Mecca and Prester John. In Portugal he became a Christian, having the King as his godfather, he was named Miguel Nunes, after the then treasurer, on the day following the captains’ arrival, which was Ash-Wednesday, they went to visit Afonso de Albuquerque in his ship. The latter received them joyfully, for he was very happy about their arrival. When he learnt that they had brought Cide Muhammad and his companions so as to send them to the Prester, he gave orders for them to be dispatched hither. They left on the 21st of April, with letters from the King to the Prester, and Afonso de Albuquerque gave them more money than what they already had for their expenses. He then told Nuno Vaz de Castelo Branco to take them to an Arab town called Felix, which lies at three leagues from Cape Guardafui and ordered them to say that they were Arabs
