_ 183 _ In the same year (1508) The Viceroy of India, Dom Francisco de Almeida, from Cannanore, sent a letter to the King of Ormuz, on the 10th of March 1508, explaining his ongoing activity in India:(6) Most honoured and great King of Ormuz, we, D. Francisco de Almeida, Viceroy of the Indies, through the most high, the most excellent, the most powerful D. Manuel, by the grace of God, King of Portugal, etc. My Lord, we hereby inform you that, when we arrived on the coast of India, we sent you a letter from Angediva, by some Moorish merchants. The message said that, if you wished to become a vassal of the King, my master, you were to pay him whatever might be reasonable, and that we would afford genuine peace to you, in all your affairs and to all the ships leaving (6) Document no. and reference.
