_ 229 _ appears that nothing can resist him; and to see that they are our vassals and are controlled by native Portuguese, so far away from our Kingdom and some 4,000 leagues from here. Because we receive so much favour from Our Lord God in all these things and manage to derive so much praise and fame from our kingdoms, we hope that He will increase His favour and help each day in these matters. Thus, we suggest and command that you organize a solemn procession in that city, joining with the people of that country in giving thanks and praise to Our Lord, as devoutly as possible, for the great blessings and favours that He bestows on us and our kingdom in these affairs, imploring Him to place in our hands the affairs of those parts of India that He sees fit; and to favour, preserve and help them, while they continue to give so much glory and increase to the Christian religion and its Holy Catholic faith which is what we desire.
