He said he had done this solely on the information given him by the Captains who had fled; there would be a time for this matter, but now it was necessary to know from Khwaja Attar what he wanted. He sent Diogo de Mello to take the Moor back to land, as he had promised, and he said to the Moor that he should tell the King to pay the tribute, from which the Viceroy had not exempted him and which he already owed for one year, and he did not say that he would not make war on him. He therefore, required him, on behalf of the King of Portugal, to comply with his obligation, as he had signed in his letter. Moreover, to let him have the four Portuguese to send them to the King of Portugal, who would punish them for embracing the false religion of Mohammed and abandoning the faith of Christ, which was that of their own King. He was to tell Khwaja Attar that he was to blame for everything, and he would have to pay for it if he came back again to Ormuz. But now he had to go to India, and the Viceroy would hear his truth; and he should reply at once. Diogo de Mello went and ordered that the Moor be returned to the shore as he had promised.
