_ 571 _ In the same year (1509) in June 1957, an unpublished letter from Valentim Fernandes was discovered. It was written in Lisbon on the 26th of June 1510, and sent to his friend, the merchant Stefan Gabler, from Nuremberg. It is preserved in the archives of the Nuremberg Museum. This letter narrates the events that took place in 1508 and 1509:(38) This included some very remarkable documents from all parts of Germany, especially the Staatsbibliothek of Munich, the Stadtarchiv of Nuremberg, the Staatsbibliothek of Bamberg, the Universitätsbibliothek of Erlangen, etc. The originals of Hieronymus Münzer (1447-1508) and Hartmann Schedel (1440-1515) were there, Behaim’s correspondence, the De virtutibus mulierum of Plutarch (Brescia 1485).
