_ 231 _ Chapter: 138 While the governor was staying at Ormuz harbour, there arrived a man called Miguel Ferreira, whom he had sent to Sheikh Ishmael with some letters in these he had offered him the King of Portugal's friendship and proposed to make an alliance with him and to help him against his enemies. Sheikh Ishmael had heard of the governor’s exploits in Ormuz and India since he had become governor; he also knew how well he had received his ambassador's messenger, and that he had offered him his friendship through the latter. He was therefore very pleased to have as his friend a man as powerful as the King of Portugal, as well as the governor. Not only did he see to Miguel Ferreira's business very quickly, but he also sent an anbassador bearing letters of friendship; to the King of Portugal and the governor and he also sent them magnificent presents. This ambassador, whose name was Coje Alijan, was the same messenger who had seen him in Goa (the man who had originally been sent to the hidalcan, as described in Chapter 117). He had travelled to Ormuz in the company of Miguel Ferreira and was already in the city when the governor arrived.
