When the governor learnt of this he arranged for a meeting with Raix Noradim, which was to take place on shore, under the pretence that he wished to discuss business with him. He sent Antonio Raposo, Nuno Martins Raposo and the secretary to fetch Raix Noradim, and the latter was accompanied by one of Raix Hamet's brothers, who was called Raix Madofar; as well as many important merchants from Ormuz. They all kissed the governor's hand, and the governor said that since the King of Ormuz was a vassal of the king his master's; he now requested then to swear that they would always be faithful to the King of Ormuz, obeying him in everything, and putting their lives and possessions at his service if necessary; furthermore they were to recognize nobody but Raix Noradim as the king's governor. They all swore to this, as did Raix Madofar, even though he showed some reluctance. The governor then swore that he would make sure there was always justice in the Iand, and that he would protect the king against all his enemies. He said this so that none of the men here present would rebel when he ousted Raix Hamet.
