_ 331 _ On the Sunday, Sheikh Ismael went to the hills and took most of the people from the camp. He ordered three or four leagues of rough terrain in the very high mountains to be cordoned off and he drove a great deal of game into it. These were herded onto a great plain and his followers surrounded them in such a way that they were completely penned in. He then summoned the Ambassador and as soon as he arrived with his men, they entered the corral with the Sheikh. Inside there were up to fifteen hundred head of animals, such as, deer, wild sheep and goats, bears, jackals, wolves and pigs. The King entered carrying a bow and began to fire his arrows. Each shot transpierced three of these animals. When he had killed a large number, he became weary of the bow and seized a short sword with which he began to hack at them. He gave one chop that cleft one animal from head to tail in such a way that half fell one side and half the other. He slashed right through others in the same way. When he became tired, Dormiscan, his companion and Governor, entered with the Captain of the guard. However, for the most part, they did not deal such tremendous blows as the Sheikh, but they finished off the rest of the game. When this was done, they brought drinks to the Sheikh with crystalized sugar, cucumber and wild mulberries. He
