He is a young man between twenty-five and twenty-seven years of age; well-loved by all, a discreet, well-bred man, well-loved by all; and a man who speaks many languages. How Sheikh Ismael became a Great Lord Sheikh Ismael’s father bore the name Haidar and was the king of a city named Aradabil, fifty leagues from Tabriz on the Eastern side. He had fourteen sons and five daughters, the Sheikh being the youngest of them. He always dedicated himself to the exercise of war and of having soldiers. His father was the first to introduce the wearing of their scarlet caps. Abandoning the religion of Mohammed, he embraced the belief of one of his nephews called Imam Hafar.
