_ 378 _ Governors of these principals are called guazil, and their office is called guezilado. The most important of these on the coast of Arabia is the borough of Kalhat, which yields nineteen thousand two hundred xerafins by this meens. Kalhat itself 11,000, Muscat, 4,000, Sohar 1,500, Khor Fakan the same, Daba 500, Lasos 700, Julfar, which is another Guazilado in this part of Arabia, together with its whole district, yields 7,500 xerafins. Some pearl-fishing vessels do not put, in there, if they are fishing in the area, because they are obliged to pay dues to Ormuz, as it is nearby, amounting to 1,500 xerafins. In this way, the whole of Arabia yields 28,200 xerafins. This does not include the revenue from the borough of El Katiff, or of the nearby island of Bahrain inside the Strait, because at this time they were in revolt against the King of Ormuz. This revenue was uncertain, but very large, as we shall see later in our description of the Strait. In the land of Persia there is the guazilado of Minab, where a market is held lasting throughout the date harvest in Moghistan, which runs from May to August, and this yields 2,500 xerafins.
