Item: There also came news by these letters of two Venezians, great villains, called Ben Homeses who had renounced the Christian Faith in Constantinople, one is called Joam Comtarino Caca Diavolo, and the other Joam Francisco Justinham, and they commended themselves greatly to the Turk, and the said Turk lent an ear to them; however it is trustworthy news that one has already died, Joam Contarino Caca Diavolo, just as he was a renegade. The other Justinham is still living, and it is said he is making headway with all the things necessary to the Turk for his fleet which is to proceed to the Red Sea against the Portuguese, and that he very well knows the ways of that Kingdom of Portugal, and what the King can do and all this in detail, so much so, that the Turk is putting forth greater efforts than he had purposed to do about these Venezians, it is said that he is grieved at these men turning renegades, but that if one of them has failed and the villain is dead who was a greater wretch than this one, he will not live long, because God will not so permit, and will manifest His miracle.
