After the arrival of this Enyoy another came from Miran Mohammed whom he was sending to ask for aid with enough strength to avenge him against the Portuguese for having killed the King of Cambay, and who wanted to take the kingdom from him, with the arrival of this last Envoy the Sultan decided to give the help asked for he wrote to Soleiman Pasha, the King of Cairo, Alexandria, Rosetta, Damascas, Meada and the lands as far as Jidda ordering him to send to Constantinople the money and gifts that the King of Cambay had sent him and to bring to Suez the seven vessels in which they had come. They would be beached with others there. This Soleiman soon did and sent the money and gifts through a captain called Hamid Rais. At the order of the Sultan Jorge the renegade went in his company. When the Sultan saw such riches sent so lightly by a king who lived far away, it seemed to him that the wealth of that land must be beyond measure. Thus, he wanted to be able to conquer Cambay and the rest of India. He therefore obtained information from Jorge the renegade about the wealth of Cambay and other kingdoms and of the
