In the same year (1529) Cristovao de Mendonca sent a letter from Ormuz to King Dom Joao III, on the 13th of September 1529, regarding Ormuz Castle, and the imprisonment of Diego de Mello for refusing to pay the fine imposed on him by a ruling issued by the King of Ormuz:(6) My Lord. In 1528, I wrote to Your Highness about matters concerning both this fortress and Diogo de Melo, who is now on his way to Portugal. I shall write to Your Highness about what has happened in this land and fortress following those letters. I wrote to Your Highness that Diogo de Melo had been imprisoned here for refusing to pay the fine imposed in a sentence which, in my presence, the King of Ormuz passed against him.
