Furthermore, Don Jorge de Alvarado, Governor of Guatemala, ordered two vessels to be prepared and they were to depart soon after the others, and also the marquis Hernán Cortes and the viceroy Don Antonio de Mendoza, who had recently arrived, ordered more galleons and many vessels of those parts of the south to send to China and the Ryukyu islands and to the Moluccas, to discover another new world. I learned other things about those parts which relate to the service of God and our Lord the King. But it is more than four years that I have been in this observation post, where I see little attention paid to all this. Although I was ill when I came here, I wrote letters about this to His Highness, and I sent him those which the rulers of Malacca wrote him, of which I am sending copies to Your Highness, thinking that it was important for you to see, because of what they complain about, and what is necessary there.
