Belchior de Sousa bore letters and writs from the King to Rais Badramdin, ordering him to hand over the fortress to the Guazil whom he was sending. Belchior de Sousa also bore an order from the Governor to capture Rais Badradim and bring him back as prisoner. Rais Badradim had been warned by the Council to be on his guard. Belchior de Sousa gave him the letters as soon as he arrived. Rais Badradim did not want to hand over the fortress to him, nor did he trust him. They brought this message back to the Governor. Two weeks before he was to leave, he decided to send Simao da Cunha there to take the fortress from Rais Badradim if he could. Simao da Cunha took 450 men including all the noblemen who had escaped from Mombasa, as well as others who were here in Ormuz. Simao da Cunha left Ormuz and arrived in Bahrain. On his arrival, Rais Badradim sent him the message that he was a vassal of the King of Ormuz and that he only wanted peace, but that there were many there who advised him not to accept peace. Simao da Cunha went ashore and saw that the fortress was very well fortified and not as he had been told.
