In the same year (1545) The judge of Ormuz sent a letter to His Excellency the Governor from Ormuz, on the 6th of September 1545, informing him about the ships in Suez, and his inability to reach Qatif because of the war there:(19) From the Guazil of Ormuz. The Captain decided to send João Fernão, who is the bearer of this letter, to see the galleys in [Suez], and he came to see me for me to decide whether he was suitable for such an errand.
